Janomot report: The district truck owners 'group at Sarighat in Jaintapur, Sylhet, and the Sylhet District Truck, Pickup and Covered Van Workers' Union have called off their strike. A meeting led by the Superintendent of Police was held at the Sylhet District Police Office on Sunday (August 23) at 3pm.
After discussing various issues at that meeting, the leaders called off the strike. Sylhet Deputy Commissioner M. Kazi Emdadul Islam took part in the meeting in a virtual manner.
Confirming the matter, Golam Hadi Chaiful, president of the Sylhet District Truck Owners Group, said, "We were on strike on the Sylhet Tamabil Highway in the name of royalty, extortion and road extortion." The administration will hold a meeting with us on Sunday (August 23) at noon. Later, when we sat in a meeting at the deputy commissioner's office, we made our demands.
At the same time, they consider our demands justified and assure them that they will look into these matters seriously. Then when they asked us to lift the blockade, we, the leaders, did not lift the blockade by explaining to the workers.
