Janomot report: At least five people were killed and one other injured when a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on in Golaplganj Upazila of Sylhet on Saturday morning.
The accident happened at about 10 am on Saturday at Chowghari Bazar area of Sadar union on Sylhet-Jakiganj highway under the Upazila.
The dead were identified as Bahar Uddin, 40, son of late Abdul Karim of village Ranaping Fazilpur, Lal Mia, 27, son of Azmal Ali of Lorifor, and Zakaria Ahmed. The identities of the rest two deceased could not be ascertained. They were 45 and 12 years old respectively.
Witnesses and police said the Sylhet-bound CNG autorickshaw was badly damaged when it was hit by a Baralekha-bound passenger bus in the morning, leaving two people of the CNG dead on the spot, while another died on the way to hospital.
Besides, two of the three critically injured passengers of the autorickshaw succumbed to their injuries at the hospital while underwent treatment.
