Covid-19: Infection rate on the fall, recoveries on rise in Bangladesh

Janomot report: Bangladesh registered 2,174 more coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours till Monday with a gradual fall in the infection rate. 

In total, confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country have reached 312,996. 

Besides, reported deaths linked to Covid-19 have jumped to 4,281 after the virus claimed 33 more lives during the period.

Of the new deceased, 29 are men and four are women. Among the total dead, 3,364 or 78.58 percent are men while 917 or 21.42 percent are women.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.

Total recoveries in the country have reached 204,887 with 2,980 more patients recovering from the virus in the last 24 hours. 

During the period, 12,454 samples were tested in 92 labs across the country. With this, a total of 1,550,203 samples have so far been tested in the country.

In comparison with the tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the infection rate is 17.46 percent while the infection rate is 20.19 against total tests carried out so far.

Against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 65.46 percent while the mortality rate is 1.37 percent.

On Sunday, Bangladesh registered 42 deaths from coronavirus and 1,897 cases after testing 11,934 samples.

Meanwhile, the global death toll from coronavirus has crossed 8.5 lakh to reach 850,592 as of Monday morning. 

Besides, 25,384,823 people have so far been infected with the virus in different countries, according to Worldometer.

Of the currently infected 6,827,390 patients, 6,766,288 are in mild condition while 61,102 are in serious or critical condition.

So far, 17,706,841 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.

The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 6,173,236 and 187,224 respectively while Brazil is in the 2nd position with 3,862,311 cases and 120,896 deaths and India reported 3rd highest 3,539,712 cases
