IU Arabic dept Chairman quits

Janomot report: The Chairman of the Arabic Language and Literature Department of Islamic University in Kushtia resigned from his post on Tuesday, three days after they demanded the expulsion of one its students from the university over sharing derogatory remarks on Makkah and Zamzam Well on Facebook post.

IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif said that Arabic Language and Literature Department Chairman Professor Moshtaq Mohammad Abdul Moktader Munwar Ali submitted a resignation letter to him showing personal difficulties.

Contacted Moshtaq Munwar Ali said, ‘The main reason behind my resignation was nothing but some of my family problems.’

On Friday, Saifullah Al-Hadi, a third-year student of the department, made a derogatory comment over Makkah and the Zamzam Well on his Facebook that went viral within minutes. The department then demanded the expulsion of the student.
