Janomot report: ASI Ashek E-Elahi, accused of killing Raihan in Bandar Bazar police outpost, has been remanded in custody for five days. He was sent to jail on Tuesday (October 3). When he fell ill while in remand, he was taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. From there, he was produced in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman of Sylhet on Tuesday.
Unlike the previous two constables, Ashek E-Elahi did not agree to give a confessional statement in court. Sylhet SP Khaled Uz-Zaman confirmed the truth of the case (PBI).
Earlier, police constables Titu Chandra Das and Harunur Rashid, who were sacked in the case, were arrested and remanded in custody for two days. They were similarly sent to prison.
Incidentally, on Sunday (October 11) morning, Raihan was picked up from the Kastghar area of the city and tortured to death at the Bandarbazar police outpost. Later, the victim’s wife filed a murder case with the Kotwali police station on Monday (October 12). Whose case number is 20 (10) 2020. After that, an investigation team of the metropolitan police investigated the overall matter and outpost in-charge (SI) Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, Touhid and four others were dismissed and three others were withdrawn. However, Akbar, the mastermind of the incident, is still at large.
