The new strategy sets out plans tocontinue reducing homelessness and rough sleeping through early interventionand support to stop people ending up on the streets, and will ensure people aretreated with care and compassion.
Consultation remains a vital component of the Council’s strategy to ensure thatlocal people can shape their borough’s policies. Whether from residents, localhousing providers, or businesses – all input is extremely valuable.
Rokhsana Fiaz OBE, Mayor of Newham,said: “Everyone in Newham has a right to somewhere safe to stay. I know from personalexperience what it is like to lose your family home and I am committed to doingall I can to help people who are homeless.
“Our draft plan strategy sets out our commitment to do all we can to giveeveryone options to keep them from being homeless or sleeping rough. We want tohear from the community what they think of our plans and how best we can tacklehomelessness together.”
The five-year strategy, and accompanying action plan also offers ambitiousplans for reducing the number of people living in temporary accommodation andnew ways to prevent homelessness by working with partners - including voluntaryorganisations, healthcare partners, and private landlords.
