No free internet packages for Facebook, WhatsApp
Janomot report: Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has imposed a ban free internet packages for social media use.
It sent a letter to internet providers on July 14 in this regard.
In the letter, it was mentioned that mobile phone operators have engaged in an unhealthy competition of providing free internet packages for the use of social media platforms.
Using these free internet packages, a section of unscrupulous elements are carrying out criminal activities, it said.
Head of Grameenphone’s External Communication Muhammad Hasan said they are working to implement the BTRC’s order to stop providing free internet offer for Facebook.
Mobile operators provide free internet offers for Facebook, Imo, WhatApp, Twitter and other social media platforms.
