Janomot report: Mostafa Kamal alias Mina Kamal alias Fata Keshto, former chairman of Naihati Union Parishad was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Rupsa upazila of Khulna on Thursday morning.
Former chairman of Khulna’s Naihati Union Parishad under Rupsha Mostofa Kamal alias Mina Kamal was killed in a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
The incident took place at Vekutimari on the Khulna-Mongla highway near the Rampal power plant in Bagerhat on early Thursday.
Mina Kamal (55) was accused of 25 cases including killing of Sarjeel Islam Sangram (28).
RAB-6 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Raushanul Firoz said that the RAB launched an operation in the Vekutimari area of Rampal around 5:15 am. At that time, Mina Kamal's men fired at the RAB, however in self-defense, the RAB also fired back. Then Mina Kamal was shot while two members of the RAB were injured also. The doctors declared Mina Kamal dead when he was taken to the hospital around 6 am. During the drive pistols, ammunition, knives and drugs were recovered from the spot.
