This year, the amount of minimum and maximum Fitra has been fixed at Tk 75, and 2,310 respectively.

The National Fitra Fixing Committee set the amount in a meeting on Saturday.

The committee members and renowned Islamic scholars attended the meeting with the committee president and Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Khatib Hafez Mufti Mawlana Mohammad Ruhul Amin in the chair.

After the meeting, Mawlana Mohammad Ruhul Amin briefed the journalists about the fitra rate.

Before the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the end of Ramadan, every adult Muslim who possesses food in excess of their needs must pay Fitra, also called zakat al-Fitr, or fitrana to the poor. The head of household can also pay Zakat al-Fitr for their dependants such as children, servants, and any dependent relatives.
