‘Artists Make Space’ underway at British Council, artworks by 7 Bangladeshi and 7 UK artists on display

Dhaka, 12 December 2022: The British Council in collaboration with Britto Arts Trust and Tara Theatre has organised an exhibition styled as ‘Artists Make Space’ where the artworks of a total of 14 artists from Bangladesh and the UK are being exhibited. This is a collaborative exhibition where 7 Bangladesh-based artists and 7 UK-based emerging artists are taking part with a view to connecting and co-creating new multidisciplinary works together. This project has been commissioned to commemorate the illustrious journey of 70 years of the British Council in Bangladesh. The sole purpose of this exhibition is to create a safe space for people to creatively engage and voice their views through a range of artistic mediums.

Artists who are participating in this exhibition include Mridul Kanti Goshami; Monon Muntaka; Emdadul Hoque Topu; Azizee Fawmi Khan; Rakibul Anwar; Hridita Anisha and Apurba Jahangir from Bangladesh, and Ruby Kitching; Thahmina Begum; Rupinder Kaur; Rehemur Rahman; Tia Ali; Abbie Lois and Kamilah Ahmed from the UK.


After successful completion of the tour in London, Birmingham and Manchester in the UK with Tara Theatre, two exhibitions have already been held at the Rashid Choudhury Art Gallery of the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Chittagong and Kobi Nazrul Auditorium in Sylhet with Britto Arts Trust in November 2022.

Now it is being held in Dhaka. The exhibition in Dhaka was inaugurated at the British Council on 07 December 2022. Mahmudul Hossain (writer) David Knox (Director, Programmes, the British Council Bangladesh) and Mahmudul Hossain (writer) graced the inauguration ceremony with their presence.


Curated by Mahbubur Rahman from Britto Arts Trust and Natasha Kathi-Chandra from Tara Theatre, the exhibition will remain open simultaneously at the British Council (Fuller Road, Dhaka) from 11am to 05pm and Britto Arts Trust (Green Road, Dhaka) from 03-08 pm every day for the visitors till 13 December 2022.
